Fluid Couplings for electric motors:
When an electric motor starts, a heavy load can delay the time that it gets to full speed. High current and power is associated throughout this start up period. When a fluid coupling is introduced to the system, the motor can start up and get to full speed quickly. As oil is introduced into the coupling circuit, the power is gradually added to the load equipment. This setup reduces the wear on the motor and shafts while simultaneously reducing expensive spikes in power usage.
Soft Start:
A fluid coupling provides a cushioned start for power equipment. Because the equipment is not mechanically connected, the peak torque and power is limited. Reduced shock to shafts and other components means less maintenance and less downtime.
Vibration Isolation:
A fluid coupling can isolate mechanical vibration. This feature can protect the driving equipment from the load equipment.
